I like the new setup, not just because of noob friendliness. You can inform your team faster what you're affected by presently. You can now read the first few words and know WHAT they're talking about instead of having to read a skill name and re-figure what that skill is (two extra cycles in the brain). So you have more information upfront to make a decision with.
No complaints here from me, but if people really like it the old way, add a toggle as already suggested.

I liked the old way. There was only one place in the bar of text to look to see what the hex/condition/ench was. Any time you saw an "I have" it was something important. I don't care if somebody's "listening to..." oh crap, a shout, I guess I should pay attention to that line.
Plus, I've always said "I have xx on me" on voice chat, it's what seems natural, so that's what I like in game.
In the end, not a big issue, but I prefer the old way.
EDIT: hell, why not spend the time to build in voice chat so we don't have to ping, instead of making useless changes like this in the first place?

I don't really care what they do about this, it has no impact on gameplay whatsoever.
But people saying they have better things to spend time on annoys me, they made the unnecessary change in the first place. The amount of completely unnecessary UI changes which were fine before and now annoy people (ie. fade distance thingy) that are made is ridiculous. I just don't see how they can justify the amount of time it takes to make those sort of changes when as far as I can tell there is no real clamor for such changes. It just seems like anet have a strange set of priorites with things like that.
/signed to adding to a toggle as I think they should only make UI changes to things like this if they add a toggle in the first place.

With the new system you know the Type of the skill withou having to know the skill.
It's better no matter what you say.

Personally, I find it takes longer. Before it was "I have X on me!" and you just quickly flicked your eyes toward X to see if it was a legitimate problem, like Blind, or some idiot advertising their avatar or enchantments. Now it's a longer sentence, differently structured, and it takes me slightly longer to locate the effect on the player because I'm still used to just looking at the third word in the sentence.
It's not such a huge deal that I'll sign the thread, but I'm just saying. For a second there I usually think it's game dialogue or someone being chatty, and I ignore it.
Oh well, I quit healbot monking anyway. :P

The new way is better.
New players will easyer understand what kind of skills that are used to.

They could change this and then maybe they could fix those darn rocks outside Kamadan that seem to be overlapping each other. SILLY ROCKS!
Honestly, this didn't really affect the game at all.

Honestly, this thread is far beyond pointless. Does this really affect gameplay? I think not. The game runs based on performance and efficiency.

Personally I don't care about this, I hardly ping it anyway. The only time I see anyone really ping it is runners saying they have Mind Freeze on them or cripple.

Why don't you tell them that when they were changing it in the first place.

Then will I like the new system, as I can just look for the word behind the swearing.
"I'm dead. F/ !"
"I have f/ing 0 of 55 energy!"
